They are planning lots of different activities, and so far are thinking about potentially having a pirate theme with a pirate photo booth, face painting, a treasure hunt, and a treasure chest tombola.

They are also planning a stall at the local market on the same day with similar activities, and will be trying to raise as much money as they can for the cause. They will be releasing a press release from Vodafone to try to draw up some interest and increase foot fall to both the store and our market stall on the day. Naomi House provides care to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, since it’s such a great cause they are looking for your help to drum up support from the local community. They would really appreciate any help you could offer to help them raise as much money as they can for Naomi House. 

Hampshire County Council has asked CAH to invite 2 representatives (who can each bring one guest) from Hampshire's voluntary and community sector to attend the service and the reception afterwards.  If you are interested in attending, please contact Rosie Taylor.  Please note that names will be put forward on a first come, first served basis.

This is a free event organised by WinACC and supported by DECC Green Deal Pioneer Places funding. It aims to bring people together from across Hampshire who are taking action in their communities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions – and provide the opportunity to share ideas, learn from each other and look for joint projects. Suggestions for topic discussions include Green Deal, Energy Companies Obligation (ECO), maintaining energy and enthusiasm in a community group and getting the message across through a pop up shop.

The project to date has helped to enable more than 395 rural affordable homes to be built in 55 rural villages across Hampshire. A further 121 homes are funded and will be built over the next 2 years. In all, this has helped more than 1000 local people to stay or return to their communities.

9 new Fellows joined the growing list of social entrepreneurs who are addressing social and environmental issues close to their hearts and making a business out of it. 

Over 100 people attended Wednesday’s event put on by Community Action Hampshire (CAH) who has led this vital support into its forth year. Amongst those attending the event was Steve Brine, MP for Winchester and Chandlers Ford, who was inspired by these local people wanting to make a difference.

CAH is open to investment from like minded individuals and organisations to be able to continue this provision over the coming years. “We have 16 new social entrepreneurs starting our next programme at the end of this month [...] who require support to get their social business off the ground”, said Conroy Williams, Programme Manager for the course.

Enterprise M3 is interested to hear both from voluntary organisations and private businesses to find out who does and who does not take on interns and graduates and also why organisations may see it as a problem.

Charities can apply for capital grants of between £20,000 and £150,000 per annum to provide improvement, conversion, extension or new build of facilities for disadvantaged young people (16 to 25 years old).

Projects should provide or improve buildings or spaces within a building to support young people with services such as accommodation, independent living skills, educational or employment opportunities.

LandAid’s funding particularly targets projects for young people who live in communities which are high on the Indices of Deprivation or who directly experience the issues associated with deprivation, many of whom are also NEETs (not in employment, education or training).

Although the grants are available mainly for capital projects, smaller amounts of funding are also available for revenue projects associated with the capital investment, as part of the £20,000 to £150,000. LandAid is also able to offer a variety of in-kind support, such as free property and building advice, mentoring and work experience opportunities for young people.

LandAid would like to receive applications that outline the applicant’s plans for the next three years and the range and scale of support they need. LandAid is looking for charities who are interested in working in partnership with LandAid, not just on capital projects which are suitable for grant funding, but wider programmes of giving.
